SARAH 'SALLY' (RAPAPORT) STRIAR, BANGOR -- Sarah “Sally” Sophie (Rapaport) Striar, 75, died at her home in Bangor, Nov. 25, 1992, after a long illness. She was born in Millinocket, May 12, 1917, the daughter of Louis and Rose (Harris) Rapaport. She was active in local theater groups for many years, was an avid dancer and will be remembered for her wonderful smile. She was a member of the Congregation Beth Abraham and Congregation Beth Israel, Hadassah B'nai B'rith and the Women's American ORT. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Charlotte Striar of Bangor; one daughter and son-in-law, Jo-Ann and Jerry Kirstein of Bangor; five grandchildren, Ben, Brady, Julie, Jennifer and Joshua; one brother and sister-in-law, A. David and Mildreth Rapaport of Bangor; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Jack Rapaport; two sisters, Ida Glaser and Anne Podolsky. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, Center Street, Bangor, with Rabbi Joseph Schonberger officiating. Interment will be in Beth Israel Cemetery. Memorial week will be observed at Sally's home, 178 Clyde Rd., Bangor. Gifts in her memory may be sent to Hospice of St Joseph, P.O. Box 8184, Bangor. Arrangements are by Brookings-Smith, Bangor.
