RUTH SIEGEL - BANGOR - Ruth Siegel, 95, died Feb. 8, 2010, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born June 5, 1914, in Bangor, the daughter of Joseph and Zelda (Gopin) Siegel. She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel and its Sisterhood, and Beth Abraham Synagogue Sisterhood. Ruth was a member of Bangor Senior Citizens and an active member of RSVP. She was employed as a legal secretary at the law firm of Stearns and Finnegan for 40 years, retiring in 1976, and also worked as a hostess for many years at the Oronoka Restaurant, a legendary Orono dining establishment. Ruth was an amazing cook and baker, and always was happy to give her friends and family her treats with a smile. Ruth enjoyed traveling; attending happy family celebrations, both near and far. Surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, great-great-great-nieces and great-great-great-nephews throughout the United States, England and Israel. She was predeceased by her sisters, Molly Siegel, Lena Siegel Berg, Dora Siegel Sclair, Pauline Siegel Cole Segal and Marion Siegel Mintzer; and brothers, Max Siegel and Dr. James Siegel. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Jewish Funeral Chapel, 118 Center St., Bangor, with Rabbi Steven Schwarzman officiating. Interment will be at Congregation Beth Israel Cemetery. Gifts in her memory may be sent to a charity of your choice. A service of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.
