HARRY GEDAL - BANGOR - Harry Gedal, 96, beloved father of Irene and Robert Gedal, passed away June 15, 2007, at a Bangor health care center. He was born Nov. 6, 1910, in Czechoslovakia, the son of Yitzchak Gedalovitz and Faith Vegh. He was a Holocaust survivor and immigrated to the United States in 1948. He married Marion White, Feb. 20, 1949. He owned and operated Harry's Delicatessen for many years. He was a lifelong member of Toldus Yitzchak, then a member of Congregations Beth Israel and Beth Abraham. Harry was a member of the Friendship Club. He served as a shamash for Beth Israel from 1973 to 1986. His service was recongnized and praised by all as an educated and devout Jewish man. Surviving in addition to his daughter, Irene; and son, Robert, are a brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Suzanne David; special nephews, Jerry and Ar-nie Weiss; and special friend, Barbara Schwartz. He was predeceased by his wife, Marion White. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bill Miller for all his help. Graveside services will be held noon Sunday, June 17, at Beth Israel Cemetery, Toldos Yitzchak section, Bangor, with Rabbi Fred Nebel and Rabbi David Cantor officiating.
