DORIS E. STRIAR - DORIS E. STRIAR,90, of 9 McKinley Street, Bangor died Saturday, Nov. 24 2001, after a long and productive life, during which she established a reputation for devoted friendship, joi-de-vivre, and for not suffering fools gladly. She was born Dora E. Mazik in Providence RI, July 6, 1911, the daughter of Rebecca (Resnik) Mazick and Max Mazick. On her side of the family she is still known as Dora. She was the wife of Louis Striar of Bangor, who died in 1983. A 50 year survivor of breast cancer, for many years she counseled women that life after that disease could be long and fulfilling. She was for many years, the passionate leader of the Bangor Chapter of Youth Aliyah, an organization devoted to saving Jewish children from Nazi persecution, and getting them to what was then Palestine. Afterward, she became and remained an ardent Zionist, who devoted energy and resources to the State of Israel from it
