Bangor-BESSIE KATZ, 89 , died Aug. 9, 1996, at a Bangor nursing care facility. She was born in Russia, Oct. 12, 1906, the daughter of Abraham and Esther (Gopan) Katz. Miss Katz was a graduate of Bangor High School and was employed at the former James A. Taylor Osteopathic Hospital. She was a member of Congregation Beth Abraham, Beth Abraham Sisterhood, and the Jewish Senior Citizens. She helped many people by writing letters for them and helped obtain their American citizenship. Iss Katz also assisted people in preparing their income tax returns. She was the loving sister of Marion K. Flash of Boston, Mass. and Belled Grodinsky of Augusta, and one brother, James S. Katz of San Francisco,Calif. She was loved by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grand nieces and great grand nephews. Miss Katz was predeceased by two brothers, Solomon and Samuel Katz.
