EVELYN L. TROTSKY BANGOR-EVELYN L. TROTSKY, 54, DIED Nov. 14, 1997. She was born Jan. 19, 1943, in Stamford, Conn., the daughter of Hellmut and the late Elizabeth Broder Lewin. She graduated from Stanford High School and received a BA degree from Wheaton College, after studying at the University of Geneva in Switzerland. She pursued graduate studies at the University of Pennsylavania and Columbia University before receiving a Masters Degree in French from the University of Maine. Prior to coming to Maine, she was a staff member of the Vistor's service at the United Nations in New York. In Maine, she undertook a 20 tear career in hospital and university resource development. She served as director of public relations and development at St. Joseph Hospital, director of community relations and development at the Kennebec Valley Mental Health Center, and executive director of the Pine Tree 4-H Foundation at the University of Maine. She held gubernatorial appointments, as past chair of the Maine Children's Trust and as a member of the Maine Commission on Community Service. She served on the board of directors of the Penobscot Valley United Way and the Jewish Community Council. She was a past member of the Bangor Junior League and a member of Beth Abraham Synogauge. She is survived by her loving family including her husband, Howard Trotsky; a daughter, Deborah Trotsky Ziering, son in law Mark Ziering, and a grandson, Aryeh Ziering of Jerusalem, Israel; a son, Samuel Trotsky. M.D., and daughter in law Judith Fisher, M.D., of Bethesda, Md; her father Hellmut Lewin and wife, Lucille of Palm Beach, Fla.; a twin brother, Derek Lewin and wife Dion of Boulder, Colo.; special in laws, Rhoda and Moshe Carmilly of New York City; a brother in law, Dr. Arthur Trotsky and family of Israel, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
