Samuel Shapiro - Rockland - Samuel S. Shapiro, 77, a retired merchant died Friday evening at a local hospital. He was born in Lithuania April 5, 1887, the son of Thomas and Celia Shapiro. He had been a proprietor of the Army and Navy Store here until his retirement. He is survived by his widow Mrs. Nettie (Snyder) Shapiro; three sons, Benjamin of Madawaska, Malcolm and Meredith, both of Presque Isle; three daughters, Mrs. Ida Gopan and Mrs. Elizabeth Gopan, both of Bangor, and Esther Jordan of Silver Spring, MD.; a brother, Maurice of Beverly Hills, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Ann Segal of Boston and Miss Esther Shapiro of Los Angeles Calif.
