Dvar Torah for Parshas Bamidbar
Counting. Everything needs counting. Money needs counting. If you work at a grocery, you have to count food and groceries to know how much is left and what needs to be ordered. We are always counting to see what we need to do. In this week's portion, G-d counts the Jewish people. Does G-d not know how many people there are? Of course He does. But there is something special going on here. G-d counts the Jewish people to let them know how important they are to Him. It's not a counting for informational purposes. It reminds us how important we are. If we are reminded of how much G-d values us, it would inspire our actions to even higher levels. May Hashem give you hatzlacha to the highest levels.
